Young Frenchman On Trial
Manchester United have taken 19-year old French defender Joel Sammi on trial at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman spent pre-season at Leeds United and played in almost every friendly for the Yorkshire club. He was on the verge of signing for them but the deal fell through as Leeds couldn't afford the transfer.

Sammi played in a friendly for United the other week against neighbors Bolton and Sir Alex and Ricky Sbriga were exceedingly impressed with his efforts at centre-half and believe he has a giant future to come.

The player's agent Mike Morris commented on the trial, saying: "I don't know if he will be offered a deal or not and I should know more at the end of the week.

"There should be no problem if he is offered a deal as he is with an amateur club in France and there would only be a small fee of compensation to pay.

"He likes England and he played in a game for Bolton last week and Sam Allardyce liked him," he added.
