Celtic star Henrik Larsson has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Swedish striker is out of contract at the end of the season, and is unlikely to sign a new deal. Is there 32-year-old veteran on his way to Old Trafford?

been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Swedish veteran is set to leave
the Scottish giants at the end of the season, and sources suggest he could
be on his way to the Premiership. Larsson has had a fantastic career at Parkhead, netting well over 200 goals for the Bhoys, but after ? seasons with the club Larsson has told manager Martin O'Neil that he will not be signing a new contract. There is no doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson is on the look out for a new striker, and whether or not he wants to make new signings in the January transfer window or at the end of the season is currently unknown. A move for Larsson in the new year would be unlikely, with the Swede expected to remain at Celtic until his contract expires in May. He is also cup tied for the European Cup, after playing a key role in the Glasgow outfits group stage campaign, which ended in misery against Lyon. A move for the 32-year-old would be an interesting one, however I doubt the link is little more than a rumour. Larsson has had a real impact at Celtic, but whether or not he has the ability to play in the Premiership for a club like United is unproven. Sir Alex may also prefer to sign younger blood to bolster his squad, although with a lack of strikers at Old Trafford, signing Larsson on a free transfer at the end of the season would be an impressive piece of business. |
