Scholes & Fergie Pick Up Awards
Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson have picked up Barclaycard Player and Manager of the month for December.

The month of December was a fantastic month for the Red Devils as they rose to the top of the Premiership after victories against Aston Villa, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Middlesbrough respectively.

Paul Scholes has been on fine form since his return from injury and has scored vital goals for United. Sir Alex has masterminded United's return to the top of the table ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Member of the judging panel Nic Gault said: "Manchester United have made a habit of ending seasons strongly and their current form suggests they have started early."

"After a disappointing defeat at the hands of Chelsea, Sir Alex Ferguson has taken his side on a five match unbeaten run that has sent out a clear message to the other title contenders: we're not going to give the title up easily.

"After an injury lay-off, Paul Scholes has quickly regained the type of form that has made him such an important player for United and England. Although it's only January, he must be an early contender for Player of the Year."
