Fulham’s French striker Louis Saha is set to undergo his medical at Manchester United today and complete his move to Old Trafford.
Saha, moving to United for around £10-12 million, didn’t travel up north to Newcastle yesterday for Fulham’s league fixture against The Magpies. Chris Coleman’s Fulham eventually lost 3-0.
But Coleman later admitted that he didn’t really want to sell the Frenchman but the former Wales international wanted to do what is right for Saha.
"From a football point of view, I didn't want Louis Saha to go for the obvious reasons," said Coleman.
"I'm the manager of the team, he's a quality player, he's banging goals in and, especially in January, why would I want him to go? “
"There was a lot of pressure on Louis from outside influences, i.e. his agent and a lot of people surrounding him, a lot of negativity coming out of that camp, and that started to get a bit worrying and started to get a bit out of hand.”
"Personally, I would have still held on to the player, but the people upstairs thought it was the right decision for the club and they've made that decision.”
"We'll all stand behind that, we'll draw a line under it and we'll move on.” He added.
