PlanetFootball.com has confirmed that Manchester United are the most hated
club in the entire Football League! The survey asked supporters of each of the 92 league clubs which club their fiercest three rivals, and the results provide interesting reading. Overall the Red Devils received the most votes for primary and secondary rivals of clubs across the league, with United receiving 5 votes as the primary rivals of different clubs, just ahead of fellow Lancashire side Burnley who were voted the second most hated team! Arsenal, Bolton Wanderers, Leeds United, Liverpool and Manchester City all listed United as their biggest rival, with Arsenal going for the jealousy vote ahead of their traditional local rivals Tottenham Hotspur. In fact, 22% of supporters interviewed gave an answer that was not their clubs traditional rival. Many other clubs stuck United down as their secondary rival, with the full results showing that Everton and Newcastle United class United as their second most hated club. Oldham Athletic, Bury, Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea all elected the Red Devils as their third biggest rivals. Our vote went to Liverpool, and not Kevin Keegan's Manchester City, who are currently seen as more of a joke that rivals by many supporters! The clowns of Manchester received United's vote as secondary rivals, with Arsenal picked ahead of Leeds United as third biggest rivals. For more information on the census click here. |
