Executive David Gill was reportedly spotted jetting off to Spain earlier
today. What he could be doing there is mystery, but with the club being
linked to several Spanish-based players recently, let's wish he's doing a
bit of shopping!
The Red Devils have been linked to a variety of different players playing football in Spain recently that include Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres and Barcelona defender Carles Puyol. Sir Alex Ferguson recently had a £24 million bid for Atletico's young striker Fernando Torres rejected but new reports claim that the Spaniards are willing to negotiate the deal. Diego Forlan being included in it. Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has also been recently connected with a move to Old Trafford and was also linked in the summer. Barca will be reluctant to let such a prize asset leave the Nou Camp for less than £10 million. Possible Reasons for Gill's trip to Spain Reason 1: To buy Fernando Torres. Who?: A prolific young goalscorer who has impressed everyone at Atletico Madrid with his goalscoring ability, pace and skill in a very competitive La Liga. Price Tag: £20 - £28 million Reason 2: To buy Carles Puyol Who?: A solid right-back or central defender who has established a firm spot in his beloved Barcelona and Spain team who can definitely solve United's defensive problems. Price Tag: £10 - 20 million Reason 3: To lure back an unsettled David Beckham Who?: Oh come on, what can I say? This lad has it all. England captain, Real Madrid midfielder, won top prizes and trophies such as The Premiership and The Champions League etc, etc. Becks has recently been linked away from Real Madrid after his beloved family not being able to settle there. Price Tag: £25 - £30 million |
