Timm Brace Secures Reserve Victory

A brace from Danish under-21 international Mads Timm helped the Manchester United reserves to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Birmingham City's second string at St.Andrews'. Roy Carroll and Kieran Richardson were amongst the starting line-up.

The Manchester United reserves have beaten Birmingham City's second-string 2-1 at St.Andrews'.

Mads Timm, a player who has played for United in the European Cup, netted a second-half brace to help the visitors to victory. The opening goal came just after the hour mark, and the Dane hit his second only three minutes later.

Roy Carroll, Kieran Richardson were other well-known faces in the starting line-up.

Marcus Painter got the home side back into the game with a goal just over ten minutes from time, and a young and spirited Birmingham City side launched a late rally with Paul Tierney brilliantly blocking a goalbound Blues effort with only moments left on the referees watch.

Birmingham City Reserves: Bennett, Blake, Parratt, Kilkenny, Hall, Painter, Till, Howland, Barrowman, Curtis, Motteram (Birley, 68). Subs not used: Doyle (GK), Hamilton, Daly, Howell.

Manchester United Reserves: Carroll; Lynch, Pugh, Tierney, Spector; Fox, Eagles, Jones, Richardson; Heath, Timm. Subs not used: Heaton (GK) Blake, Poole, Howard, Lawrence.
