Ferguson Gives Up 2nd Spot Hopes

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he has given up on 2nd spot and is now focusing on the FA Cup Final against Millwall on May 22nd. The Red Devils' runners-up hopes took a major blow today as United slumped to a 1-0 defeat by the hands of Blackburn.

The Red Devils' runners-up hopes took a major blow today as United slumped to a 1-0 defeat by the hands of Blackburn. Chelsea's 4-0 demolition over Southampton didn't help the situation what-so-ever. Chelsea are now firm favourites to qualify for the Champions League automatically, leaving United to get out their atlas and prepare to travel far and wide in order to qualify. "With Chelsea winning today, it's almost impossible to finish above them." said Scotsman Ferguson "There are two games to go, and they are four points in front - they are in a fine position in that they only need to draw at Old Trafford against us next week and they have a good record there." "We want to galvanise ourselves and make sure our form is better going into the cup final." Is this Sir Alex Ferguson showing a pessimistic attitude or is he playing mind games with Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri? ... this certainly is not the Fergie we know. |
