Fortune Targets USA Comeback

Quinton Fortune has claimed he has set his sights on being fit and ready for Manchester United's pre-season tour of the USA, where they face some of the Europe's best teams.

The South African international was unfortunate to hurt his knee in training and had to undergo an operation to correct the problem in March after having a successful string of games at left-back and has targeted a place in Sir Alex Ferguson's squad to fly out to the USA.

"It's been eight or nine weeks now so I have a couple of weeks left before I start to do some jogging and some work outside." said Fortune.

He continued: "I am looking forward to being fit for pre-season and that is what the physios and doctor have been telling me so I am looking forward to that,"

"The bad part is I had been given the chance to play and while you can't really complain too much about the injury, that is the frustrating thing about it all.

"You have just got to deal with it. Players have been in worse situations than me and they have come back from injuries and are playing again."

The Red Devils kick-off their second successive tour of the States at the end of July with a fixture against German opposition Bayern Munich, followed by Celtic and AC Milan respectively.
