Manchester United coach Mike Phelan has been tipped to become the new Burnley manager at the start of next season after the departure of Stan Ternent. Phelan, a former Clarets player, did a good job at the start of the season acting as Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man.

tipped to become the new Burnley manager at the start of next season after
the departure of Stan Ternent.
Phelan, a one time United and Burnley player, did a good job at the start of the season acting as Sir Alex Ferguson's right-hand man before the appointment of Walter Smith and the Division One outfit are reportedly interested in the coach. Burnley have only just made themselves safe from relegation to the Second Division, and with a number of highly-rated players such as Robbie Blake, Richard Chaplow and on-loan Manchester United winger Luke Chadwick on the books at Turf Moor, the fans want more. Stan Ternent, a close friend of Sir Alex Ferguson, and his team have flirted with relegation all season and consequently Ternent was given the chop by Burnley bosses and now search for a replacement. The option of former Leeds boss Peter Reid has been ruled out as he has been put in charge of fellow Division One outfit Coventry City. |
