Giggs Reveals Smith Plea

Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has urged boss Sir Alex Ferguson to bid for Leeds United forward Alan Smith and has revealed that he would welcome him at Old Trafford.

Smith himself has admitted he would consider a move to United after his current team Leeds United just got relegated from the Premiership into the Nationwide Division One.

The 23-year old has attracted interest from home and abroad as the Yorkshire outfit look to sell their best players in order to clear a huge debt burden.

Welsh international Giggs said: "There has been a lot of talk about Alan Smith saying he'd be interested in a move to Manchester United."

"Any player in the Premiership would want Alan in their team and we are no different."

"He is a very good player and we would certainly welcome him at Old Trafford. I can't pretend there isn't a huge rivalry between ourselves and Leeds and it doesn't often happen that a player moves from one to the other."

"He is an excellent striker who should be playing in the Premiership and, with Leeds being relegated, he needs a new challenge." he added.
