United Could Play In Kevin Pressman Testimonial

Manchester United have been short-listed as possible opponents for a Kevin Pressman testimonial to reward the 'keeper for his 19-years service at Sheffield Wednesday. The veteran looks set to leave Hillsborough over the summer, with a whole host of clubs rumoured to be interested in signing him.

Manchester United are being lined up as possible opponents for Kevin Pressman's farewell testimonial game. The Sheffield Wednesday 'keeper has been told he can leave after 19 years of service at Hillsborough, with Chris Turner looking to build a side that is capable of lifting the Owls out of the Second Division.

Pressman is undecided on his future, but a number of clubs are thought to be interested in signing the services of the goalkeeper when his contract officially expires on June 30th. Rivals Sheffield United are amongst the clubs rumoured to be lining up contract offers, but before that decision has to be made, Pressman will get a testimonial game to reward him for a career of loyal service to the Owls.

United have been short-listed alongside the Old Firm, Newcastle United and a possible Sheffield derby for the testimonial match which is sure to attract huge interest from Wednesday fans. With a pre-season tour to the USA, the Vodafone Cup, Euro 2004 and other friendlies arranged by the Red Devils, it's good news that a possible friendly against the Yorkshire outfit would not take place until September.

"Clubs have arranged their pre-season programmes by now, so really an early-season game in September would be best." said the veteran.

"We've sounded out various clubs, including Sheffield United, Manchester United, Celtic, Rangers and Newcastle, and are waiting for feedback.

"Things are still at a very early stage, with many people in the game on holiday, so we'll have to wait and see."
