Manchester United youngster Mads Timm has returned to Lancashire after spending a season-long loan with Norwegian feeder-club Viking. The Danish under-21 international is tipped for a bright future at Old Trafford, but manager of the Scandinavian outfit, Bjarne Bernsten, is sending mixed messages.

Manchester United forward Mads Timm has returned to Lancashire after a season-long loan spell with Norwegian feeder-club Viking. The forward has been tipped to shine in future years and was sent to Scandinavia by Sir Alex Ferguson to earn some much-needed first-team experience as he looks to break through into the seniors at Old Trafford.

United's hopes for Timm's future were evident last season when he rewarded the youngster with a new contract, but he still failed to breakthrough into the United first-team squad. The Danish under-21 international enjoyed only limited success with Viking though, and their manager Bjarne Bernsten was hardly full of praise for the exciting striker.

"He's got extreme individual skills, but he is not the player we need." said Viking boss.
