Scholes Deemed A Doubt

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has been considered as a maybe for England's second Euro 2004 match against Switzerland on Thursday. He was replaced by Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves with 14 minutes to go in England's 2-1 defeat by the hands of France with an ankle problem.

After being replaced by Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves with 14 minutes to go in England's 2-1 defeat by the hands of France, his ankle injury may cost him to miss out on England's game in Coimbra. England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson had this to say: "Paul Scholes is a doubt for Thursday. He has an ankle injury. He will not practice today and maybe not tomorrow." "Gary Neville has some small problem. If he can't practice Tuesday, I should think he will at least on Wednesday," the Swede also revealed. Red Devil Scholes, along with United teammate Gary Neville both played a part in the match so too did Mikael Silvestre, who represented France. An injury time brace by France captain Zidane cancelled out Frank Lampard's first half header to claim an early morale boost in their campaign. |
