Butt Suffers Euro Blow
Manchester United's Nicky Butt will miss the rest of England's Euro 2004 campaign after suffering damage in training to a ligament in his right knee.

Football's governing body has denied Sven-Goran Eriksson to call upon a replacement midfielder as England look to put their 2-1 defeat to France behind them.

"Nicky Butt has got medial ligament damage which is normally a three to four-week injury and it is unlikely he will play any further part in the tournament." confirmed FA spokesman Colin Gibson

"At the moment no decision has been made on whether he will return to England. He obviously wants to stay with the squad as long as possible.

"We will be holding discussions later in the day regarding the possibility of any formal decision over Nicky's future with the squad."

Paul Scholes has also suffered a Euro 2004 setback and is rated as just 50/50 to play against Switzerland on Thursday.
