Van Nistelrooy Saves Holland's Blushes

Manchester United's prolific goalscorer Ruud van Nistelrooy was on-hand to apply an acrobatic finish that forced a 1-1 draw out of a dominant German outfit in Porto. Torsten Frings opened the scoring from a free-kick on the half hour mark.

1-1 draw out of a dominant German outfit in Porto.
Torsten Frings opened the scoring from a free-kick that may have taken a minor deflection from a Dutch player but never the less found it's way past Edwin van der Saar on the half-hour mark. Van Nistelrooy though wiped the smiles off the German's faces with a flamboyant strike past Germany skipper Oliver Kahn with 9 minutes left to go. Fellow group D opponents Czech Republic beat Latvia 2-1 earlier today and now lead 'the group of death'.
