Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he owes his boss Sir Alex Ferguson a season of top class displays for standing by him through his much-publicised 8-month ban from football. Ferdinand was banned for 8 months after 'forgetting' about a random drugs test last season.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has
admitted that he owes his boss Sir Alex Ferguson a season of top class
displays for standing by him through his much-publicised 8-month ban from
football.
The England international defender was banned for 8 months after 'forgetting' about a random drugs test at United's Carrington training ground last season. "There's definitely a debt of honour to the boss - and I intend to repay him by putting in top-class performances." said the £30 million defender. "People come up and ask 'Are you going to Chelsea?' But I'm not going anywhere. I love it at United and I've got so much more I want to achieve here. "The United supporters I've met have been unbelievable and I would like to thank them because they've shown great loyalty towards me. It means a lot," Defensive mistakes were the main reason for The Red Devils conceding their Premiership crown last term but look to rectify those faults with the return of Ferdinand and £7 million versatile defender Gabriel Heinze. |
