Neil Wood Joins Coventry City

Neil Wood has signed a two-year contract for Coventry City under ambitious manager Peter Reid. The forward was recently released by Manchester United after failing to break into the first-team, and the Sky Blues have shrugged off competition from Burnley to sign the 20-year-old.

Recently released Manchester United forward Neil Wood has signed a two-year contract with Coventry City as Peter Reid looks to bolster his squad to mount a promotion challenge to the Premiership for the Sky Blues next season.

The 20-year-old attacker, whose versatility can also see him play on the left-side of midfield, never quite broke into the first-team at Old Trafford despite showing a lot of promise earlier in his career. He spent most of last season on loan with Lancastrian rivals Burnley and did look set to join the Clarets when he was released by Sir Alex Ferguson, but Coventry have been quick to secure the services of the youngster ahead of the start of the campaign in August.

"We're delighted to have signed Neil Wood," announced Reid.

"He is a good passer of the ball, has a good left foot and reminds me of the way Kevin Sheedy played back at Everton."
