New signing Gerard Pique has slammed his former club Barcelona, claiming the Catalan outfit forced him out of the Nou Camp. The 17-year old is regarded as one of the hottest talents in Spanish football and is the captain of the Spanish U17 side.

The 17-year old is regarded as one of the hottest talents in Spanish football and is the captain of the Spanish U17 side. "The directors at Barcelona treated me very poorly," said the defender. "When they found out that I had been in contact with Manchester United and Arsenal regarding my future, they benched me for two months. "In truth, I don't think they wanted me that badly otherwise they would have offered me a new contract several months ago." Pique has praised boss Sir Alex Ferguson and admitted he's relishing the challenge at Old Trafford. "Sir Alex Ferguson came across as a very nice man and he treated me with respect." "I am very excited at the prospect of this new challenge," The versatile defender joins fellow teenager Guiseppe Rossi at United, who signed from Italian club Parma yesterday. |
