out for this season's Community Shield.
Following a toss of a coin between the two clubs a few weeks ago, it was decided that Arsenal will take to the field in their away attire that consists of royal blue shirts, royal blue shorts and royal blue socks. Last season, United lifted the trophy after a penalty shoot-out victory following a 1-1 draw. However, Sir Alex Ferguson may well field a weaker starting line-up this time around with a European Cup qualifier against Dinamo Bucharest 3 days later. Doubtful duo Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes, who haven't had much of a pre-season, will both defiantly start the game but will be without Kleberson, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Rio Ferdinand and Liam Miller who all have respective injuries. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gabirel Heinze are both playing in the Olympics. The Gunners also have their fair share of injury woes with Sol Campbell and Patrick Vieira bearing pre-season niggles. Ashley Cole, Thierry Henry and Freddy Ljunberg are all minor doubts. Youngsters Jermaine Pennant, Justin Hoyte, Philippe Senderos, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie are all likely to get run-outs. ManUtdWeb Prediction: Manchester United 1 - Arsenal 2: I regret to be so pessimistic but we haven't had the best pre-season and are missing several key players. Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes have been forced into the line-up unfit making the team vulnerable in the middle of the park where Arsenal constantly attack from. But who knows? |
