David Fox Heads to Gay Meadow in Loan Deal

Red Devils youngster David Fox has joined Football League Two outfit Shrewsbury Town on a one-month loan. The 20-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Manchester United, and will be desperate to make a big and quick impact at Gay Meadow.

Manchester United youngster David Fox has joined Shrewsbury Town on loan. The 20-year-old midfielder enjoyed the first day of a one-month spell at Gay Meadow on Friday and could go straight into the Shrews' starting line-up for the League Two clash against Rusden & Diamonds.

Newly-promoted Shrewsbury have been seeking a midfielder for some time, and manager Jimmy Quinn is delighted at securing the services of the bright prospect. United are keeping a keen eye on Fox who, despite having not yet made a senior Red Devils appearance, is thought to have the calibre to succeed at Premiership level in the future. How he performs on this loan spell could be vital.

"I found that Dave Fox was available, he's been playing in the reserves for United and luckily enough we were able to get him in on loan." said Quinn.

Fox spent a reasonably successful loan period at link-up club Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Premier League in the first half of last season. He also boasts a collection of international honours for England, with caps at all levels from England Under-15's to Under-20's. However, time could be running out for him to break through the Manchester United ranks so a big and immediate impression at his new temporary home is key to his future.

Shrewsbury have had a poor start to the Football League campaign on their return to the professional pyramid. Sitting 22nd with 10 points from 11 matches, they may face a struggle if they are to maintain their status after spending a season in the non-league Football Conference.
