Louis Saha is set to make his comeback in the Manchester United jersey for the reserves as they face a home tie with Birmingham City at Moss Lane on Thursday night. The Frenchman has struggled with injury and now faces a real battle to win first-team recognition at Old Trafford.

Louis Saha looks set to make his Manchester United comeback on Thursday evening as the reserves take on Birmingham City at Altrincham's Moss Lane. The Frenchman will start up front for Ricky Sbragia's men, desperate to make an impact after a frustrating spell on the sidelines with various injuries.

Considering all the fuss surrounding Saha's £12.5million move to Lancashire from Fulham, the forward has been relegated to fourth-choice striker following the high-profile signings of Alan Smith and Wayne Rooney, and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer anxious to return from injury United's January recruit faces a real battle to win regular first-team recognition.

Saha impressed after his move from Fulham's temporary Loftus Road last season. He has 7 Red Devils goals to his name, but has proved injury-prone which will be a major competition with such intense competition for places. Saha must prove his fitness and find his form if he is to form a regular partnership with another striker in the Manchester United line-up.
