Real Goalkeeper Rubbishes United Link

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has rubbished reports linking himself with the supposedly vacant role as Number One goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

Casillas is the latest big name goalkeeper to have been mentioned in the same breath as Manchester United over recent months, as well as the likes of Francesco Toldo and Oliver Kahn.

Sir Alex Ferguson has proven reluctant to use Roy Carroll and Ricardo on a full-time basis and Tim Howard has been lethargic this season, in complete contrast to last season's performances.

Speaking in an interview, Real's Spain international Casillas said: "I have been here 15 years and have no desire to leave."

"I want to renew my contract and stay, although there is still plenty of time before 2006."

He added: "The only thing I am thinking about is the sporting aspect and I am not demanding anything from Madrid.

"It is down to the club if they are happy with it and, if that is the case, then they will offer me a new deal."
