Gill Reveals Contract Restructure

Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill have sensationally revealed that the club is about to introduce a new pay-as-you-play contract structure.

That means the United players will earn the majority of their wages depending on the performances in the Champions League and domestically.

Speaking just after an annual board meeting, Gill exposed: "Getting to the Champions League group stage is critical, and it is important that players contribute to that element"

"The players need to understand the economics of the game have changed over the last few years. But we're still talking about putting together very attractive packages."

However, the Chief Executive isn't ruling out possible wage cuts, adding: "Wage cuts would depend on the player."

The deal is likely to boost the wages of young prospects rising through the ranks at Old Trafford. "For the young players, we need to look at them having appearance-based money but they would still get a very nice basic."
