Ferguson Furious at Violent Van Persie

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has expressed his fury at Robin Van Persie's vicious elbow aimed at United winger Kieran Richardson during The Red Devils' 1-0 victory over Arsenal last night. David Bellion got the goal with just 20 seconds on the clock, dumping The Gunners out of the Carling Cup.

Young Dutchman Van Persie was caught infringing Richardson seconds into the second half and has been criticised by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The game was fairly quiet until the row.

Speaking about the incident, Ferguson added: "He was lucky to stay on. It just exploded with Van Persie's behaviour just after half-time."

"I think the FA will have to take a look at that. I think he threw an elbow at the boy," 

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admitted he was contemplating taking his signing off, saying: "I considered bringing him off because he was involved in some heated moments."

The FA won't take any form action and have confirmed that they "reviewed the actions of all the players involved and is satisfied that no further disciplinary action is required"
