Ferdinand Issues Giggs Plea

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged his club to pull out all the stops in sealing a contract extension with winger Ryan Giggs, amid all speculation that the Welshman is unwilling to put pen-to-paper.

Giggs, 31, has made it clear that he's not happy with the length of time left of his current deal that expires in 18 month's time and would like to play on at Old Trafford for a further 2 years.

United have a new policy in where 30-year olds can only sign 1 year deals, something that infuriates the Welsh international.

Team-mate Rio Ferdinand would not like to see a integral part of the team go, saying: ""I would not let Giggsy go and I am sure any other player in the team would echo what I have said."

He added: "Giggsy is on fire and nobody should have to justify what a great player he is. He is probably the most decorated player in English football and is still doing it now.

"Some people have been going on like he is over the hill but he has probably been our most consistent performer this season."

"Players like Ryan don't come round all the time but he is still here, still producing the goods week in and week out."

Giggs has been in top-form on the pitch however, netting 3 times in as many games in a sprout of great form.
