The mystery illness that has ruled defender Gary Neville out for the past few weeks is starting to worry Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Neville picked up a flu virus that has been circulating the training ground at Carrington a few weeks ago and has been ruled out of action since.

The mystery illness that has ruled Manchester United defender Gary Neville out for the past few weeks is starting to worry Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson, but is hopeful it will disappear soon. Neville picked up a flu virus that has been circulating the training ground at Carrington with Neville and Cameroon midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba being worst hit by the illness. The England international was scheduled for return a few weeks ago to bolster United's Premiership bid, but the bug just kept returning. "Our medical people can't get to the bottom of Gary's illness,"
stated Sir Alex Ferguson. He added: "He feels fine one day and then the next the bug has returned. I'm sure it will clear up eventually but just at this moment I couldn't say when he will be fit to play again." Scotsman Ferguson also confirmed that striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is on the road to recovery after a calf strain. "At the moment Ruud is going through his rehabilitation programme back in Holland," |
