Ferguson Rubbishes Djemba-Djemba Link

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has re-buffed rumours linking Eric Djemba-Djemba to Birmingham City after strong-speculations claiming the midfielder wants out at Old Trafford.

The Cameroonian international endured a tough premier-season as a Red Devil and things haven't picked up this year, but has always stated he's determined to prove his worth to the team.

After forking out £3.5 million for Djemba from Nantes in the summer of 2003, the holding-midfielder has failed to live up to the tag of "the new Roy Keane" despite impressing in European performances whilst playing in France.

Steve Bruce is looking for a long-term replacement for Robbie Savage, who recently secured a move to Blackburn Rovers, and has allegedly deemed Djemba as his prime-target.

"There is no truth in it (the Birmingham link)," said Ferguson. "I don't know where that has come from."

"We have had a few inquiries about Eric over the last few weeks but we are not in a position to make a decision about that."
