United Dismiss Ronaldo Contract Feud

Manchester United have dismissed rumours that  winger Cristiano Ronaldo is unhappy with his current contract and is demanding an instant rise in his wages.

The 19-year-old's weekly salary, around £15,000 a week, is substantially less than his Old Trafford team-mates with the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane on around £70,000 to £90,000 a week and fellow youngster Wayne Rooney on about £50,000 per week.

However, director at United Phil Townsend has rubbished the reports, stating: "To suggest there are problems over a new contract is nonsense.

"Cristiano has three-and-a-half years left on the contract he signed when he joined and no talks are planned." 

Portuguese international Ronaldo, signing for £12 million from Sporting Lisbon last season, has enjoyed a dream year with the Red Devils by stamping his name in amongst the best in the world with skilful Champions League and Premiership performances.

Ronaldo definitely deserves his contract to be bettered if recent form is anything to go by. The winger has notched 2 goals in his past 2 games against Exeter and Aston Villa with Man of the Match performances.
