Rooney: Best Goals I've Scored

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has dubbed his two fantastic goals against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup as 'two of the best goals I have scored in my career', helping his side to a 3-0 victory over Steve McClaren's side.

Rooney executed two marvelous goals in the second half, one audacious lob after sixty-seven minutes and one pin-point volley after eighty-one minutes, leaving Boro's keeper Mark Schwarzer hapless. John O'Shea broke the deadlock ten minutes in.

"They were two of the best goals I have scored in my career," claimed Rooney.

"The first was a good ball from Gary Neville. I managed to stay onside - and when I looked up and saw the goalkeeper off his line I just chipped him.

"The second was just a long ball that Louis did well to head in my direction, and I hit it. It could have gone anywhere. But I had a bit of luck, and it went in the top corner."

Meanwhile, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has heaped praise on his team and especially Rooney for their impressive 3-0 win that has set them up nicely for the mid-week league clash with Arsenal.

"We have won very convincingly in the end," admitted the Scot. "The FA Cup is a major competition for us. It is one of the priorities of our season, and I hope we will go a long way in it."

"I know all about Wayne Rooney. What he did tonight just confirms what he is all about. There is no doubt the boy is a very special talent, and it was a marvellous performance from him."
