Carroll Linked with Rangers Move

Manchester United's unsettled goalkeeper Roy Carroll has emerged as Glasgow Rangers' top transfer target after Ibrox's current number one Stefan Klos sustained a nasty knee ligaments blow.

Carroll has demanded that the Red Devils would guarantee his position as permanent goalkeeper at Old Trafford, but Sir Alex Ferguson has always been reluctant in giving the Northern Ireland international a long run in-between the sticks.

United are also tipped to sign a world-class goalkeeper in the summer to pick up where the great Peter Schmeichel last left off - something no keeper to play for United has accomplished.

American Tim Howard has seemed to have lost his confidence guarding the sticks and Carroll, 27, will almost definitely leave as a free agent in the summer unless United can make some money out of the former Hull and Wigan shot-stopper.

Back-up goalkeeper at Rangers, Allan McGregor, isn't deemed as the right replacement for Klos by manager Alex McLeish so the hunt for a 'keeper may start soon.
