Keane In Retirement U-Turn

The 'will Roy Keane retire next season or won't he?' saga has taken another turn after the Irishman admitted that if things were going smooth on the injury front at the end of the next campaign, he would stay on as a Red Devil.

This comes just days after Keane finally confirmed his retirement date in the summer of 2006 when the 33-year-old stated: "When I signed my current contract I believed it would be my last playing contract and I still believe that to be the case.''

But, in a more recent interview, Keane added: "If this time next year my body is holding up and my hip is okay, and the knee, and Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz and Micky Phelan probably feel I can still contribute to the team then who knows," 

"The manager pulled me aside on the Saturday morning and said that he will be the one deciding when I'm going to be retiring."

"I couldn't see myself playing for another English team, or going down to the First or Second Division, no disrespect to the teams down there."

The Republic of Ireland international also commented on a possible future in management or coaching, saying: "I am not sure that getting a coaching role would necessarily happen at United but again you try and keep all of your options open,"
