Fletcher Suffers Injury Blow

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been ruled out for up to two months with a knee ligament injury suffered in the Manchester derby last Sunday.

Fletcher had to be replaced just after the hour mark in Sunday's 2-0 triumph over Kevin Keegan's side and is now ruled out for key clashes with AC Milan in the Champions League and possibly the Chelsea game in the Premiership.

The 21-year-old is be sorely missed by former Old Trafford Assistant Manager Walter Smith for his Scotland side, Sir Alex Ferguson revealed, and also feared the worse for youngster. "It‘s bad news for us and it‘s bad news for Walter and Scotland."

"It does look very bad."

He added: "I'm told he will be out for a minimum of seven weeks but, of course, that is no certainty. He could be out longer."

"It‘s worse news for the lad because he had been playing so well and had so much to look forward to."
