United Youngsters Land Jail Sentence

Danish forward Timm, 20, pleaded not guilty in front of judge Adrian Smith at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court today and following evidence, was sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders' institute. 19-year-old Flanagan however pleaded guilty and was handed with a shorter sentence of 8 months.

The court were told that Timm, sporting a fierce Mitsubishi Evolution, raced at around 40mph with team-mate Flanagan, who collided with local resident Angela Bourne in his Honda Civic.

Young Red Devil Phil Marsh happened to be in Flanagan's car at the time and was lucky to emerge from the wreckage with his life intact.

Judge Adrian Smith stated: "Having heard all the evidence, it is quite clear to me this was a serious and deliberate course of dangerous driving."

"You chose to engage in game-playing in high-powered vehicles on a busy stretch of road."

"It is pure luck that nobody was killed."
