Ferguson Rues Missed Chances

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has blamed missed chances for his side's Champions League exit at the hands of Serie A giants AC Milan tonight at the San Siro.

Argentinean striker Hernan Crespo found the back of Tim Howard's net on the hour mark to deny the Red Devils a place in the Quarter-Finals. United have not progressed further than the Second Phase for the second year running.

The Red Devils were clearly outclassed in Italy and, despite an array of fine attacking talent on show including Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ruud van Nistelrooy on show, could not convert chances into goals.

An unhappy Sir Alex Ferguson declared: "We missed three excellent chances and needed to take one of them,"

"If we had taken the first one it would have been a different game. It was a hard game. Losing the goal at Old Trafford was the killer for us,"

"I'm disappointed to go out but we've gone out to a very good team"

"Experience showed at times tonight - our decision-making could have been better but you only get that through playing and my players will get better"
