Reserves Set for Clear Out

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be assessing his Reserve and Youth sides over the next few months leading up to the summer as he looks to sort the wheat from the chaff of talent.

The Scotsman has been highly critical of his Academy set-up this season, and will determine with Reserve team coach Ricky Sbragia and Youth coaches Brain McClair and Francisco Filho whether to keep certain youngsters or not.

Since winning the FA Youth Cup trophy a few seasons back, United's current batch of starlets have failed to perform to the standards to which the likes of Bobby Chalrton, David Beckham and Ryan Giggs all once set in the famous Red Devils academy.

Ferguson will be also offering players to feeder clubs in order to gain match experience on loan.

Young Welshman Ramon Calliste is expected to be the first player to be loaned out, with Sunderland and an array of Championship clubs waiting to pounce.

As for current players out on loan, West Brom will have to decide if they want to make Kieran Richardson's stay at the Hawthorns permanent by the end of the season, as the winger requests first-team football.
