Gill Speaks About Duo's Future

Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill has updated the Old Trafford faithful regarding the future of Ryan Giggs and Roy Carroll, delivering contrasting thoughts about the two players.

Gill is confident Welshman Ryan Giggs' contract situation can be resolved in the very near future whilst Roy Carroll's position at the club is slightly more uncertain than his team-mates's.

Gill, speaking after announcing the half-year profits are down by a half, stated: "We are very confident that we will reach an agreement to extend Ryan Giggs' stay at Old Trafford"

However, regarding Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Roy Carroll, he added: "There's no indication he is going to accept our final offer"

"We will look at who is available and who could fill his boots"

Goalkeepers Sebastian Fray and Carlos Kameni have been the main players linked to fill the gap in-between the sticks as Sir Alex Ferguson seems reluctant to hand either Roy Carroll, Tim Howard or Ricardo the full-time Number 1 jersey.
