Following Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill's comments regarding only letting manager Sir Alex Ferguson use the transfer kitty for a new goalkeeper, ManUtdWeb assesses the possible targets who have been linked to fill the void. Ferguson has proven reluctant to permanently hand Tim Howard the Number One jersey whilst Roy Carroll is no longer trusted by the Scotsman after a large sting of costly blunders.

Sebastien Frey
(Parma)
Price: At least £5 million
Availability: Strapped for cash Parma are in need of a cash injection following a few seasons of financial insecurity and may cash in on the highly rated goalkeeper. The Frenchman has been linked with a move to an array of clubs though, not just United, and is our best bet.
Likelihood: Very Likely

Carlos Idriss Kameni
(Espanyol)
Price: £4 - £8 million
Availability: The Cameroon international goalkeeper has made his desire to play in a United jersey no secret and has been touted one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. Kameni has been given a golden opportunity in La Liga following injury to Espanyol's Number One, and won't be happy to sit it out on the bench.

Paul Robinson
(Tottenham Hotspur)
Price: Around £12 million
Availability: Ambitious Spurs have been focusing their transfer activity on future prospects, splashing the cash on several players without offloading too many. Arsenal are also interested in the England Number One. It's hard to put a price tag on Robinson, but Spurs are likely to sell and invest in more youth at the right price.
Likelihood: Unlikely

Antti Niemi
(Southampton)
Price: £4 million - £7 million
Availability: Harry Redknapp's Saints are looming around the relegation drop down and if they do fall down to the Championship, their Finnish international will be the first player out of St.Mary's. Niemi was linked at with United at the back end of last term as well.
