Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is worried that fans may expect too much from him after a frustrating two years out with injury. The versatile attacker has been greatly missed by the Red Devils faithful, who have errected a banner in his honour over the Stretford End.

Fan favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fears that supporters may expect too much from him when he returns from a frustrating knee injury that threatened the Norwegian's career as a professional footballer.

United fans are eagerly anticipating the return of Solskjaer to the United frame, with almost two full years out with injury he has endeavoured to battle through injury and he is set to be available for selection next season. Fans have chanted the name of the versatile forward and even erected a banner reading '20 Legend' in his honour over the Stretford End, next to other great names such as Roy Keane, Eric Cantona and the names that died at Munich in 1958.

“I’ve been out for two years so can’t promise how good I’ll be when I get back, but I promise I’ll do what I can to be a better player,” proclaimed Ole Gunnar.

“I’m proud to hear the fans singing for me and to see the banner. It means they really appreciate what I have done for the club and the effort I have put in. I feel I have given 100 per cent for them and I hope to do the same again when I get back. On the other hand, it scares you a little bit as well because they’re waiting for something they may not get."

Solskaer is back in very light training and the way he has battled through an injury that most would have given up on is highly commendable. His loyalty to the club, even when first team opportunities were limited, as been superb and whether or not he returns to the first-team with a bang, he will always be fondly remembered by supporters of Manchester United.
