Van Nistelrooy Ends Goal Drought

Relieved Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy finally ended his goal drought, netting the second goal in his Holland's 2-0 win over Armenia in the World Cup Qualifying stages.

The Dutchman has struggled to find the net since recovering from an Achilles injury that ruled him out of action for 3 months, but will be brimming with confidence following his goal in-front of a home crowd.

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mark van Bommel picked out a fantastic pass to release van Nistelrooy, who made no mistake doubling his side's advantage after Romeo Castelen broke the deadlock early on.

"It was great to score again. I picked up a beautiful pass from Mark [van Bommel] and scored," stated van Nistelrooy. "It was my first goal since my injury and I gave me a great feeling. I was looking for my goal for a while"

Despite of the win, he added that he and his side were not happy with the overall display. "One of our objectives was winning but we also wanted to dominate the match and that didn't work out" he said.

"We were just not steady enough in possession of the ball."
