Van Nistelrooy Remaining Patient

Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he will remain calm and patient until he finds the back of the net once more following a spell of impotent games.

The Dutchman missed three months of the season after sustaining a calf and Achilles problem and has yet to seal his injury comeback with a goal in a United jersey, despite netting for his country Holland against Armenia in a World Cup Qualifier.

Fans have urged Sir Alex Ferguson to drop misfiring van Nistelrooy at such a vital part of the season as the Red Devils pursue 2nd spot in the Premiership. 

However, the striker wants to repay with Old Trafford faithful. "It is great to have the fans behind me" he said "But I feel I want to give them what they have given me"

"I can pay them back with good performances and goals, that is the way it has always been." 

"It was good to get the goal for Holland but for me it is time to get back on track for my club. That is what I intend to do"

"I have been in this situation before. It is important for me to know my strengths, play to them and keep calm" he added.
