Ferguson Slams Millennium Stadium Decision

Sir Alex Ferguson has reiterated his sheer disapproval of the FA Cup Semi Finals being played in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. The Scotsman has also alleged that Arsenal pressured the FA into making the decision to host the fixtures in Wales' capital.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has reiterated his sheer disapproval of the FA Cup Semi Finals being played in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium rather than a venue closer to home. There has been much debate about whether the Semis should take place in South Wales as Blackburn Rovers go head-to-head this Sunday before United face Newcastle on the Sunday. Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira vented what the majority of fans from all parties are thinking exactly by stating recently: "I believe when you play both the semi and the final in Cardiff, you lose a bit of the passion. It makes the final not so special, so really I'm not in favour of it" Ferguson blamed Vieira's Arsenal for heaping pressure on the Football Association to host the fixtures in Wales' capital. "We are looking forward to the semi-final but it is a terrible burden on the fans with it being at Cardiff, particularly the Newcastle fans" "It is a long journey compared to, say, Leeds. I just don't understand it" "Apparently it was Arsenal who forced this through," he added "I think they wanted it at Cardiff last season instead of Villa Park." |
