United to Face Clyde

Bells Scottish League Division 1 side Clyde have announced they will play hosts to Manchester United in a pre-season friendly Saturday, July 16.

The fixture will mark the 50th anniversary of Clyde's triumph over the Red Devils in an unofficial British championship, season 1954/55. Clyde defeated United 4-1 on that day.

A club director confirmed: "This is fantastic news for Clyde. Sir Alex [Ferguson] has said he will bring a top team, so there should be a number of stars on show"

"The match will be all-ticket as everyone knows the huge following that Manchester United have and the interest that will be generated."

This adds to the tour of Asian United will take part in and Barry Fry's testimonial match against Peterborough July 19th to commemorate Fry's 31 years in football management.
