Ajax Rule Out De Jong Swoop

Dutch giants Ajax have dismissed rumours linking defender Nigel de Jong with a move to Old Trafford or any other top club across Europe, claiming they want to keep the impressive youngster on their books.

According to recent reports, 20-year-old Dutchman de Jong is desperately wanted by Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson as he looks to shake up his defence in the summer.

With reports speculating about the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Mikael Silvestre and John O'Shea leaving in the summer, the Scotsman will have to re-vamp his back-line.

However, Ajax have ruled out any possible sale. "We won't let him go" said a director.

"Nigel de Jong still has a deal until 2006 and is an important player in the vision of Danny Blind (Ajax manager)"

"We will not quote a fee, we want to keep him as simple as that."
