Pair Enter Contract Talks

Manchester United duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Tim Howard have joined team-mates Rio Ferdinand, Roy Carroll and Ryan Giggs in discussing a new contract with the Red Devils.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his Portuguese winger and USA international goalkeeper were in discussions with Chief Executive David Gill last night.

Regarding Howard's position at the club, something that has been doubted recently, the Scotsman confirmed: "Tim's people have been in talks with David Gill, so we are on the move with that one."

"He is still a young goalkeeper who needs experience. That is the area we know we see improvement in him."

Ferguson also heaped praise on Cristiano Ronaldo's progress at the club. "He has three years left on his contract and we are only doing what we do in these situations."
