Sagnol: United Are Interested

Bayern Munich defender Willy Sagnol has revealed that Manchester United have expressed interest in his services, along with Premiership rivals Arsenal.

The 28-year-old France international defender has been one of many names linked with a move to Old Trafford recently, but Sagnol has confirmed there is a certain amount of truth behind this rumour.

"Manchester United and also Arsenal are interested," he said.

"If I quit Bayern, it will be for a big European club. I want to discover another championship."

He added: "A new deal is not what I expect from Bayern."

Sir Alex Ferguson will be on trail of bargain defenders in the summer with Rio Ferdinand's future in doubt. Wes Brown, John O'Shea and Mikael Silvestre are all likely to be shown the exit door.
