Ferguson Lands FA Charge

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been imposed with an improper conduct charge by the Football Association following comments after a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in April. rebuff

The Scotsman suggested there is a "sinister" reason to why referees persistently snub legitimate penalty calls from United players.

"It seems to me now that we are not going to get penalties no matter what the circumstances," said Ferguson after the game on April 24th. "It's getting ridiculous now. I'm not sure if they're instructed but it's sinister to me."

The Football Association reacted by releasing this statement: "The FA has today charged Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson with a breach of FA Rule E3 for improper conduct."

"The charge relates to his comments following the match against Newcastle United FC on 24 April.

"He has until 26 May to respond to the charge."
