Reds Score in Alex Notman Testimonial Match

Former Manchester United trainee Alex Notman enjoyed a testimonial match last Monday evening, with his career forced to end early due to injury. The likes of Tim Howard, Denis Irwin, Giuseppe Rossi and Louis Saha all made appearances in 12-goal thriller at Carrow Road.

More than 6,000 were at Carrow Road to watch former Manchester United forward Alex Notman enjoy a testimonial match on Monday night. The Scotsman's All-Star XI ran-out winners against a Norwich City XI with a typical friendly scoreline of 8-4!

Canaries supporters were treated to some relief after their dissappointing relegation to the Football League Championship only 48 hours before the game took place. The players on show, including Louis Saha, Denis Irwin and Tim Howard, entertained fans with selection of tricks and skills in an entertaining match-up.

Injuries forced former Red Notman to end his career at the age of 26. He had a looked a bright prospect when he made the switch from Old Trafford to Norfolk, but he struggled to ever truly establish himself as a plague of injuries. This was a match to honour the versatile forward who could have achieved so much more without frustrating fitness woes throughout his short career, with Notman having spent loan spells with Aberdeen and Sheffield United whilst a Red Devil.

Although these games are rarely competitive, one performance of note was a superb 40-yard lob from Giuseppe Rossi which found its way into the back of Robert Green's net. The youngster looked lively throughout for Notman's All-Stars and he certainly looks a player with a great future at Old Trafford. Chris Eagles and Saha also helped towards the impressive 8-goal tally, whilst Notman himself finished off the scoring with a late penalty.
