Ronaldo Contract Talks Stall

The agent of Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo, Jorge Mendes, has revealed that contract negotiations between his client and the Red Devils have stalled.

This adds to speculation linking the Portugal international to La Liga giants Real Madrid in a possible exchange deal for former Liverpool star Michael Owen.

Mendes exposed: "Negotiations are at a standstill. I am still waiting for a call from the club."

Following the recent take-over of Malcolm Glazer, the American tycoon is in desperate need to recoup cash in an attempt to clear his debts.

Real Madrid have expressed a strong interest in the 20-year-old with director of sport Arrigo Sacchi recentlu saying: "The quality that he has and his age mean that he would be welcome at any club in the world."
