Agent: Spector Set for Charlton

As first reported on ManUtdWeb, Jonathan Spector is set to complete a loan move to Charlton Athletic in the next few days, according to agent Steve Kelly.

The young American defender has opted for a move to London rather than a more local short-term loan move to Blackburn Rovers, who were favourites to win the race for his signature last season.

"Jonathan will be heading to Charlton for the season," confirmed agent Steve Kelly. "Sir Alex Ferguson rates him very highly, and this will be a great chance for Jonathan to pick up quality Premiership experience."

"This will be a huge opportunity for the lad and he is extremely excited to be heading to London.

"Mr. Curbishley and Sir Alex are great friends and they both agree that this [loan] will be in the best interest off all involved," he added.

"Jonathan for now, Charlton in the short-term, and in the long run, Manchester United."
